The Nozzle Separator Centrifuge is a high-performance disc stack centrifuge specifically engineered for yeast concentration in food, beverage, and biotechnology industries. This machine employs a nozzle-type bowl design that enables continuous, non-stop solids discharge without interrupting the feed flow, delivering consistent yeast cream at concentrations of 60-85% v/v depending on process conditions.
Constructed entirely from food-grade SS304/SS316L stainless steel with polished surfaces (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm), the DNS-360Y meets the most stringent sanitary standards. The optional CIP (Clean-in-Place) system allows thorough cleaning of all product-contact surfaces without disassembly, minimizing downtime and ensuring microbiological safety. The fully automatic control system with VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) enables precise adjustment of bowl speed, feed rate, and discharge timing to optimize separation performance for different yeast strains and process requirements.

The separator operates on the principle of centrifugal sedimentation enhanced by a disc stack configuration. The feed liquid enters the rotating bowl through a central inlet pipe and is distributed into the disc stack, where thin-layer separation occurs. Due to the density difference between yeast solids and the liquid phase, yeast cells migrate outward along the disc surfaces while the clarified liquid flows inward toward the center.
The concentrated yeast solids are continuously discharged through peripheral nozzles located at the bowl's maximum diameter. The nozzle diameter is precisely selected based on the desired discharge concentration and flow rate. This continuous discharge mechanism eliminates the need for periodic bowl opening and sludge ejection cycles, enabling truly uninterrupted operation with no feed interruption. The clarified liquid (centrate) overflows through a paring disc at the top of the bowl.
The separation efficiency depends on three key parameters: bowl speed (centrifugal force), disc stack geometry (settling distance), and feed rate (residence time). The VFD drive allows operators to fine-tune these parameters for optimal yeast recovery and concentration.
A nozzle separator discharges concentrated solids continuously through fixed nozzles at the bowl periphery, making it ideal for processes with consistent feed solid content. A self-cleaning separator periodically opens the bowl to eject accumulated solids, which is better suited for feeds with variable or low solid content. Nozzle separators provide higher concentration factors and truly uninterrupted operation.
Nozzle diameter selection depends on feed solid content, desired discharge concentration, and throughput. Larger nozzles allow higher solids flow but produce lower concentration. Our application engineers will help you select the optimal nozzle size based on your process parameters. Spare nozzle sets of different diameters are included with each machine.
Routine maintenance includes daily nozzle inspection (check for wear/blockage), weekly seal and bearing checks, and annual complete overhaul. The CIP system significantly reduces manual cleaning requirements. Typical bearing life is 20,000-30,000 operating hours. We provide a detailed maintenance manual and offer on-site training for your operators.
The separator requires 380V/50Hz 3-phase power (customizable to 440V/60Hz or other standards), clean water supply for seal flushing and optional CIP, and compressed air (6-8 bar) for control valves if automated operation is selected. Total installed power is 15 kW for the main motor plus auxiliaries.
