Product Overview

The XPG series vacuum paddle dryer is a horizontal batch vacuum drying equipment with dual heat sources (vessel jacket plus hollow paddles), specifically designed for high-viscosity paste, slurry, filter cake and pasty materials in fine chemical and dye industries.

This improved structure features dual heat sources: the vessel jacket and hollow paddles. Different from traditional rake teeth, it adopts hollow paddle agitation. Wet material is fed from the upper feed port, and the main shaft drives the hollow paddles in forward and reverse rotation, continuously renewing the material heating surface. The whole machine completes drying of paste, pasty, filter cake and slurry materials under high vacuum and low temperature conditions, with solvent recovery available.

The horizontal structure gives strong adaptability for high-viscosity paste and sludge materials. It can be configured with a dust removal device and solvent condensation recovery system, widely used in fine chemical, pharmaceutical, dye, environmental sludge and food industries.

Working Principle

Wet material is fed into the horizontal cylindrical chamber from the upper feed port. Thermal oil / hot water / low pressure steam is supplied into the vessel jacket and the hollow agitation paddles, achieving internal and external dual heating.

The main shaft drives the hollow paddles in forward-reverse alternating rotation, continuously pushing, scraping and turning the material, scraping down material sticking to the vessel wall and constantly renewing the heating surface. High vacuum is maintained in the vessel so solvent vaporizes at low temperature. The vapor passes through the filter for dust removal, is extracted by the vacuum unit, and enters the condenser for solvent recovery.

After drying is completed, the bottom discharge valve is opened to discharge the dry material, completing the whole batch production.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the core difference between the XPG vacuum paddle dryer and the LDG single cone ribbon dryer?
A: The XPG is a horizontal machine with hollow paddle forward-reverse agitation, giving stronger capability in processing paste, slurry and high-viscosity pasty materials. However, the internal dead corners of the horizontal vessel make thorough CIP cleaning difficult, so it is not suitable for sterile GMP conditions. The LDG is a vertical single cone structure with hollow ribbon agitation, residue-free discharge and CIP/SIP online cleaning and sterilization support, more suitable for pharmaceutical API and high-cleanliness powder filter cake.
Q2: Can XPG process slurry, paste and viscous materials?
A: The core advantage of XPG is processing paste, slurry, mud and high-viscosity filter cake. The paddles continuously scrape the wall and turn the material, preventing caking and wall sticking. It is not suitable for large-particle hard abrasive materials, which would wear the paddles and the vessel inner wall.
Q3: Can XPG support CIP online cleaning?
A: Due to structural limitations, dead corners exist in the shaft seal areas at both ends of the horizontal vessel, making complete and effective CIP cleaning difficult. XPG is not recommended for sterile pharmaceutical clean-room conditions; LDG is preferred.
Q4: Is it continuous drying equipment?
A: XPG is batch equipment: feeding - drying - discharging completes one batch.
Q5: Can solvent be recovered?
A: Yes, it can be equipped with a condenser and recovery tank to achieve solvent condensation recovery.
