Design and Construction

The TL Series features a sealed cylindrical housing containing multiple filter cartridges mounted vertically on a filter plate. Liquid enters the housing under pressure, passes through the cartridge media from outside to inside, and exits as clarified filtrate. What is the difference between PP melt-blown and PP pleated cartridges?
PP melt-blown cartridges have a depth filtration structure that captures particles throughout the media thickness, offering higher dirt-holding capacity per cartridge. PP pleated cartridges use a folded surface-area design providing higher flow rates and longer service life in low-solid applications. Choose melt-blown for general clarification and pleated for polishing or when maximizing flow per cartridge.
How do I know when to replace the filter cartridges?
Monitor differential pressure across the housing. Replace cartridges when dP increases by 0.1-0.15 MPa above the clean-cartridge baseline. Alternatively, replace when flow rate drops below your minimum acceptable throughput at the same inlet pressure. Never exceed 0.25 MPa differential pressure as this may cause cartridge collapse or bypass.
Can I use the same housing for different products?
Yes, with thorough CIP between product changes. Remove cartridges, close the housing, and circulate appropriate cleaning solution. For food facilities producing allergenic and non-allergenic products, we recommend dedicated cartridge sets per product category and documented cleaning validation between changeovers.
Are stainless steel cartridges worth the higher cost?
Stainless steel sintered cartridges are reusable and can be cleaned via backflushing, ultrasonic cleaning, or chemical cleaning. In high-temperature applications (>80°C) or where chemical compatibility is a concern, stainless steel is the only option. For high-volume production where cartridge replacement frequency is high, reusable SS cartridges typically pay for themselves within 6-12 months.
