Product Overview

The DHSY550 is a purpose-built disc stack centrifuge for biodiesel glycerin separation. It handles post-transesterification crude FAME, separating glycerin and wash water in a single continuous pass. With SS 316L wetted parts and double mechanical seals, it withstands the mildly acidic and alkaline process environment. The PLC-controlled system integrates seamlessly with upstream reactors and downstream distillation columns.

Working Principle

The DHSY550 separates based on density difference under centrifugal force. Post-reaction crude biodiesel is fed into the rapidly rotating bowl. Under 8,500G+ force, heavy-phase glycerin (density ~1.26 g/cm³) migrates to the bowl periphery and discharges continuously through nozzles. The light-phase FAME (density ~0.88 g/cm³) flows inward and exits through the centripetal pump at the top. Any residual solids (catalyst fines, soaps) are ejected via the self-cleaning bowl mechanism. When configured for washing, wash water is dosed inline, and the centrifuge separates post-wash water from purified biodiesel.

Q: Can the DHSY550 handle different biodiesel feedstocks?
A: Yes, it processes FAME derived from soybean, rapeseed, palm, UCO (used cooking oil), and animal fats. The separation parameters can be adjusted via HMI for different feedstock densities.


Q: What is the glycerin purity after single-pass separation?
A: The crude glycerin phase typically achieves 70–80% glycerol content, suitable for further refining or distillation to technical/pharma grade.


Q: Does the centrifuge require chemical-resistant construction?
A: All wetted parts are SS 316L or duplex SS 2205, resistant to the mildly acidic post-reaction environment (pH 4–9). Double mechanical seals with buffer fluid protect against methanol vapor.
